Join a squad for your child

Find a squad for your child and ask its coaches to sign them, from your own account.

Who can do this
Where

Your child can only ever join a squad as a player.

Find the squad

Start from your child's card
On Your account, then Children, click Find a squad for your child. The search opens with a chip at the top showing who you're looking for.

Search for the squad
Same search as Find a squad: by name, city, level or category.

Open the squad
Every result opens with your child already picked.

Ask to join

On the squad's page, Who's joining? lists you ("You, as a player or staff") and each of your children.

Questions

My child's age group is greyed out. Why?

The squad is for a different age range. Scouty shows the squad's ages next to your child's group, and you can't ask to join one they don't fit.

I coach the squad myself. Can I just add them?

Yes. Open your own squad with your child picked and Scouty offers to add them straight away, because you answer the squad's join requests.

A child outside the squad's age range is greyed out, and their row says which ages the squad is for.

Click Ask to join for your child

The card reads "Want" your child "to play for" the squad.

Confirm

Join as Player asks you to confirm. Click Request to Join. You'll see Request Sent!.

Under the card: "Once" your child "is in, their matches, reminders and payments come to you."

If you run the squad yourself

Open your own squad with your child picked and a card appears at the top:

Add your child — you run this squad, so they join as a player straight away. You'll see Added to squad!.
If you're not the one who answers join requests, the button is Ask to join for your child instead, and their request goes to the coaches.
If your child is already in, the card just confirms it and you can dismiss it with Done.
If they're outside the squad's age range, the card says so and there's nothing to click.

Cancel the request

Click Cancel Request on the squad page and confirm with Yes, cancel. Their request is withdrawn and you'd have to ask again.

Note

The footballing attributes that Scouty asks of adults — height, weight, preferred foot — aren't needed when you ask on behalf of a child.
