Make a substitution
Swap a player for someone on the bench, and see the change on the pitch.

Tap Sub
In the recording view's header. The panel opens on Who is coming off?.

Pick the player coming off
From the players currently on the pitch.

Pick the player coming on
The header becomes Replace that player with… and the Bench appears along the bottom, each substitute with their shirt number.
That's it — tapping the substitute saves the change straight away and closes the panel.
Afterwards
The substitute takes the same place in the formation, so your shape doesn't change — only the shirt. Scrub the clock back to before the change and the original player is back on the pitch.
In the event list it reads Substitution, with the player coming off and the one coming on.
Questions
It says: No substitutes named for this match.
Nobody is on the bench. Add substitutes to the line-up first.
Does a sent-off player come off the pitch?
No. A red-carded player stays on the pitch view and is marked instead, so you can still see the shape you had.
