Match rules: RSVP and ratings
Every match is either an RSVP match or not, and either rated or not. Here's what each choice changes.
- Who can do this
- Where
Every match carries two settings, chosen when you create it:
- Collect RSVPs — whether players are asked if they're coming.
- Rate players after the match — whether the manager rates performances afterwards.
Both are on by default.
Where you set them
On the create-match form, under Match rules. The ? next to the heading opens an explanation of both.
For a competitive match the heading becomes Match rules for your competition's name.
On the create-match form, as two switches. There's no heading and no explainer on the web — this page is it.
The switches only appear for a Friendly, or once you've picked a Competition. That's because a competition carries its own defaults.
RSVP matches and non-RSVP matches
In the app's own words: in RSVP matches players confirm their availability before they can be picked, which helps when attendance is uncertain. In non-RSVP matches attendance is assumed and the coach picks players directly, which suits a fully committed squad.
What changes when Collect RSVPs is off
| RSVP on | RSVP off | |
|---|---|---|
| Who's in the match | Only the players you invite | Every player in the squad, added automatically |
Questions
Can I turn RSVP on for a match I've already created?
No. Both settings are fixed when the match is created. To change them, cancel the match and create it again.
Does a non-rated match still count for stats?
Goals, cards and the other match events all still count. Only rating-based figures — a player's average rating and their recent-form rating — skip non-rated matches.
Where do I see whether a match is rated?
On the web, the match's Info tab shows a "Rated Match" row to coaches. The app doesn't show it anywhere.
